The 0.8 cm long, dark and fossilized tooth fragment of Triceratops from the Hell Creek Formation in Montana/USA is in a good state of preservation. The Triceratops (three-horned face) from the Ceratopidae family is one of the best-known herbivorous dinosaurs. It is characterized by its massive neck shield and its two long horns above the eyes, as well as the smaller nasal horn. Triceratops reached a length of up to 9 meters and a shoulder height of 3.5 meters. It reached a weight of up to 12 tons. Its sharp-edged beak was ideal for plucking grasses. The teeth were arranged in rows and were located at the back of the jaw. They were replaced by the following teeth as they wore down.
