9, 0 cm light coloured polished tooth of the Megalodon from New Caledonia

The 9.0 cm dagger-shaped tooth of the Carcharocles Megalodon has a light yellow enamel, which has been polished at the edges. The root of the tooth is white and grey, with visible erosion. The finds from New Caledonia come from the deep sea of the Pacific north of the archipelago. Until the 2008 ban, teeth of the Megalodon were repeatedly recovered there at a depth of 400 - 600 metres by so-called dredging (dredging/mechanical removal of the seabed). Teeth of the Megalodon from New Caledonia are now true rarities.
