9.4 cm red-brown tooth of the Megalodon from New Caledonia

The 9.4 cm fossil tooth of the Carcharocles Megalodon from New Caledonia has a beautifully coloured red-brown patterned enamel. The serration was largely imitated, which is not uncommon for finds from this region. .The finds from New Caledonia come from the deep sea of the Pacific north of the archipelago. Until the 2008 ban, teeth of the Megalodon were repeatedly recovered there at a depth of 400 - 600 metres by so-called dredging (dredging/mechanical removal of the seabed). Teeth of the Megalodon from New Caledonia are now true rarities.
