The 6.1 cm tooth of Mosasaurus beaugei has reddish-brown enamel that becomes darker towards the tip. Very fine grain patterns are visible in the shiny enamel. The tooth has undergone minor repairs, which are clearly visible in the pictures. Mosasaurs were a group of predatory marine reptiles that were widespread throughout the world during the Late Cretaceous period. These reptiles, which grew up to 17 meters long, were among the most dangerous carnivores in the Cretaceous oceans.
