4.5 cm orange posterior tooth of the Megalodon from Chile

This 4.5 cm tooth of the Carcharocles Megalodon was found in the Atacama Desert in Chile. The tooth is in a very good state of preservation. It has a shiny orange enamel and fine, sharp serrations. The narrow brown bourelette is wonderfully recognisable. The brown root of the tooth is also beautifully preserved and there are still light-coloured rock residues adhering to it. The tooth is a so-called posterior tooth, i.e. it comes from the rear part of the dentition of the prehistoric giant. This can be recognised by the relatively large and wide tooth root compared to the smaller tooth crown.
