The 2.7 cm Brachycarcharias twiggsensis Brachycarcharias twiggsensis is an extinct shark species from the sand tiger shark family that lived in the late Eocene (Priabonian) epoch. Fossil finds have been made in Morocco, Egypt, and the USA, among other places. The teeth of this species are 1.5 to 3 cm in size, averaging about 2.5 cm, and have characteristic features: the front lower jaw teeth are upright, with slender, pointed secondary teeth, while the lateral teeth are wider and triangular, with one or two lateral cusps. The shape of the teeth suggests a diet of small to medium-sized fish, which were swallowed whole. According to estimates, this species reached a length of 2 to 3 meters.
