15.1 cm very large anterior tooth of Megalodon

The 15.1 cm tooth of Carcharocles Megalodon is impressive not only for its size, but also for its weight of almost half a kilo. The tooth is a so-called anterior tooth from the upper jaw of the prehistoric giant. The tooth came directly from the diver and was found off the coast of North Carolina. The enamel is light gray with bluish tints and yellow speckles. The dentition is very well preserved and mostly very sharp. Worth mentioning are the clear waves in the dentition at the transition to the tooth root. These occur especially in larger teeth when they no longer have enough space in the jaw to grow and have been compressed as a result. The shiny black bourelette is almost perfectly preserved and the gray tooth root is only slightly worn and smoothed by the many millions of years in the sea. An impressive Megalodon tooth whose pictures speak for themselves.
