The 3.0 cm tooth of the already extinct mako shark (Cosmopolitodus hastalis) has a dark brown enamel that is beautifully preserved. The tooth is very pointed and narrowly tapered. The brown root of the tooth has been slightly smoothed in a natural way and the nutrient groove through which the tooth was supplied during the shark's lifetime is still clearly visible in its center.
