The 2.8 cm large pointed tooth of the already extinct mako shark (Cosmopolitodus hastalis) has a shiny bluish enamel. The light brown root of the tooth is beautifully preserved and the nutrient groove in the middle is clearly visible. This was used to supply the tooth with nutrients during the shark's lifetime. The tooth comes from the south-east of the USA.
