The 11.9 cm tooth of Carcharocles Megalodon has a shiny, beautifully colored enamel. Most of the dentition is still recognizable and palpable, as is the dark brown bourelette. The gray tooth root has been eroded and smoothed over the many millions of years in the sea. In the middle of the tooth root, one of two nutrient grooves through which the tooth was supplied during the shark's lifetime is still clearly visible.
