11.8 cm grey curved tooth of the Megalodon

The 11.8 cm long tooth of the Carcharocles Megalodon has a slightly curved crown. The enamel is grey-blue with reddish spots. The serration is still well preserved and palpable except for minor notches. The darker brown bourelette is still half recognisable and shiny. The nutrient groove in the centre of the tooth root is still clearly visible. The tooth was nourished through the groove during the shark's lifetime. The dull brown root of the tooth has been worn away and smoothed over the many millions of years in the sea.
