14.3 cm very large bright tooth of the Megalodon from Lee Creek

14.3 cm very large bright tooth of the Megalodon from Lee Creek

The 14.3 cm tooth of the Carcharocles Megalodon comes from the famous LeeCreek mines in Aurora, North Carolina. Phosphorus is and was mined in the mines, which leads to the very light colouring of the tooth enamel in the fossilization process. At 14.2 centimetres, the tooth is an outstanding size for the site, as smaller teeth from juvenile specimens of the prehistoric giant are usually found here. The shiny enamel is beautifully preserved and typically very brightly colored with a slight bluish and yellow shimmer. With the exception of two small notches, the fine teeth are beautifully preserved and razor sharp. The light brown bourelette is almost perfectly preserved. The matt dark gray tooth root is also wonderfully preserved and shows white discoloration. The tooth is an anterior tooth from the upper jaw of the prehistoric giant. A very nice collector's specimen whose pictures speak for themselves.
