The 7.8 cm tooth of Carcharocles auriculatus is impressive due to its size and black enamel coloration. The coarse serration is beautifully preserved and sharp. One of the two typical lateral cusps is clearly visible, while the second is slightly damaged. The tooth root, which is also dark in color, and the bourelette have been slightly damaged and worn away by millions of years in the sea. Carcharocles auriculatus is considered the ancestor of the megalodon and grew up to 9 meters long.
