3.6 cm tooth of young megalodon from Bone Valley

The tooth of the Megalodon has the white coloration of the root, which is typical for the Bone Valley. This contrasts strongly with the dark blue to gray coloration of the tooth crown. The fine serration is very well preserved.

The region known as the Bone Valley Formation is located in Polk County in central Florida in the United States. Numerous phosphate mines have been located here for many years, which are therefore not accessible to the public. The fossil findings in this region, especially the shark teeth , captivate by their special and colorful coloring. The fossilization and absorption of minerals also caused the mostly white coloration of the tooth roots and the bourlette. The teeth of Carcharocles Megalodon found here are often not very large, which suggests in expert circles that this region is one of the nurseries of the largest shark of all time.
