The 3.8 cm long tooth of the now extinct sawshark Pristiophorus laneolatus is in very good condition and was found in Chile. Pristiophorus lanceolatus is an extinct species of sawshark belonging to the genus Pristiophorus. It is characterized by its elongated, saw-like rostrum, which was lined with sharp teeth and served for feeding and defense. Pristiophorus lanceolatus was a predator that fed on small fish and crustaceans. Its maximum body length was probably around 1.4 meters.
